According to the Beijing Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) ticket sales for the Games are on track. Specifically, swimming along with the sports in which China is historically the strongest (gymnastics, diving and table tennis), are already overbooked. According to the BOCOG, 2,000,000 tickets have been bought by 340,000 purchasers as of last week.
In addition to the sports events, in which 10,500 athletes are expected to compete, BOCOG claims that 23,000 tickets have been booked for the opening and closing ceremonies. The tickets are in the second phase of BOCOG’s allocation, with the next group opening up in April.
It will certainly be nice to see full venues again after the catastrophe of spectating that happened in Athens.
